In Kochi Dairy – the 5th installment in the City Diary series – Bialobrzeski turns his gaze on the city of Kochi, on the Indian subcontinent. Kochi Diary was shot in July 2016.

“1st August 2016: The Wear Helmet, Get Petrol, Be Safe campaign starts today. That doesn’t mean, of course, that you’ll be refused petrol if you aren’t wearing protective gear. Instead, you’ll be handed a campaign leaflet by the pump–operator. In the Kochi–Ernakulam area there have been 17,000 two-wheeler accidents in the past three years, with more than 1,200 motorists dead. The Hindu states: “Besides poor road conditions, the presence of young brats with snazzy new superbikes … is proving to be a major cause of concern.”

Peter Bialobrzeski is a world-renowned photographer and the recipient of several awards including the prestigious “World Press Photo Award” in 2003 and 2010. He is also the author of over ten photobooks, including “Neon Tigers”, “Heimat”, “Lost in Transition” and “Paradise Now”.
