Since its founding in 1947, the Komische Oper Berlin has been Berlin's opera house for music theater that is as innovative as it is accessible. Following its 75th jubilee, the general renovation of the main building on Behrenstraße in Berlin-Mitte is imminent. The Komische Oper Berlin will have to move out of the building for several years. Photographer Heidi Specker has created a visual portrait of the Komische Oper Berlin that combines quotidian yet often overlooked perspectives with historical images from the opera s archives. The works show atmospheres and moods that are poetic, whimsical, humorous - but also unwieldy and radical.
