The book Nützliche Fiktionen shows 23 digital collages in portrait and landscape format. A text by Daniel Kirschbaum (Cologne) refers subjectively and abstractly to individual images. It is bound in 2 layers on a smaller format and interrupts the flow of images. In front are the individual titles of the collages in order of appearance. As a visual whole they result in an independent image of concrete poetry.
The pictorial motifs show figurative photographs lying one on top of the other, which enigmatically communicate with each other. What kind of pictures are they? They come mainly from the artist’s travel archive. They have their own story, which goes beyond the title and visual connection. It tells of a subjective fact of time and place in each case. Useful fictions are visual figures of thought.
