Some of the prewar housing estates proudly display their year of constructions: 1939. The intense building activity of the 1930s branded the city with the aesthetics of that time. As a model for the new city, housing developments – as well as the statial domination of automobile traffic – have informed the photographer’s view on Braunschweig.
