The expressionist artist painter Peter August Böckstiegel and Rudolf Feldmann, a gold- and silversmith from Bielefeld, were close friends for more than thirty years.
Around 150 letters from Böckstiegel to Feldmann are published here for the first time and provide a striking view of Böckstiegel’s life and working conditions.
He was one of the significant painters of his generation during the 1920s and 1930s. During this period, Feldmann also gained great renown as a silversmith. His expressive, strongly three-dimensional jewellery style in particular attracted a great deal of attention. The presentation of Feldmann’s life work in this publication is also an opportunity to rediscover his work.
