Austrian-born, Berlin-based Markus Schinwald, born in 1973, is known for mixed-media installations and films that investigate the psychological relationship between space and the human body. This monograph focuses on Schinwald's solo exhibition at the Kunsthaus Bregenz, Austria, in which he creates unique film-viewing spaces that challenge our sense of perception.
Markus Schinwald questions the normal and its perception in artistic images through the alienation of space and the human body. At the centre of this publication are the amply presented installation photographs from Kunsthaus Bregenz, complimented by numerous depictions of pivotal works from the past few years. Essays elucidate Schinwald's complex staging of the game of reality, experience and perception. The design of the artists-workbook was done in close collaboration with the artist.
