At the end of the 1940s, a stylistic trend thematising the painting process as such was established in German art. The gestural, the free interaction with form and colour became the object of a new, abstract composition. Within this school of thought, termed German Informel, Hann Trier (1915–1999) occupied a special place.
The catalogue brings together select watercolours and drawings of the 1950s and 1960s from the Kunststiftung Hann Trier, Bonn, with further works from various museums and private collections.
