In „Common Ground“ verbildlicht Rui Camilo ein Gesicht des Fußballs abseits vom lukrativen Fußballgeschäft, vom Starrummel und von massenmedial begleiteten Großveranstaltungen. Es ist der Fußball im Kleinen, im alltäglichen Miteinander. Das Buch versammelt alle möglichen Arten von Fußballtoren, denen Rui Camilo überall auf der Welt begegnet ist. Es zeigt: Überall wird Fußball gespielt – von Bad Kreuznach in Deutschland bis Bonanza in Spanien, von Cairns in Australien bis Mbale in Uganda.

In ‘Common Ground’, Rui Camilo visualises a face of football away from the lucrative football business, celebrity hype and major events accompanied by the mass media. It shows football on a small scale, in everyday life. On his travels, the photographer repeatedly comes across an object that becomes a recurring motif in his pictures: the football goal. The book brings together all types of football goals that Rui Camilo has photographed all over the world.
