The catalog »In der Wolle« presents machine sculptures by Andreas Fischer (b. 1972). With the aid of motors and microprocessors, Fischer builds moving and speaking sculptures from found materials, which in their new form achieve their own motivations and functions.

Fischer's man-machine parodies confront the viewer with existential questions and show the physical and pyschological pressures and social norms, which on the one hand are considered necessary for the social and cultural fabric and at the same time are identified as a source of social and individual conflict. The machines complete their mission untiringly: they have to function breaks, or even stopping altogether, are not on the agenda.
