Annebarbe Kau has always worked across genre boundaries, effortlessly yet precisely combining video, dance and performance elements, sculpture, language, drawing, and sound and audio elements. Born in Ratingen in 1958, Annebarbe Kau studied experimental design at the F and F in Zurich and philosophy, history, theater, film, and television studies in Cologne. She spent three semesters abroad at CalArts in Los Angeles and IPS Whitney in New York. In 1985, she became a master student of Prof. Nam June Paik at the Düsseldorf Art Academy.
