The catalogue ‘Unterschlupf im Kreisverkehr’ has been published on the occasion of a three-month residency by Zandra Harms at Keramion in Frechen. It provides insights into the artist's porcelain works and pastel chalk drawings. An accompanying text by Johanna Adam (Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn) provides a special perspective on the work of Zandra Harms.

‘(...) The temporary roof over one's head, the tent in its form, appearance and associative power, has long interested the artist Zandra Harms. The classic tent shape, which resembles an erected triangle, is considered the simplest and at the same time most stable geometric figure. Even though we know a multitude of different roofs, the shape of the tent roof remains the most characteristic of all. It is not only the shape that interests the artist here, but in particular the topos of the tent as a conditional shelter. The tent suggests that it is a house and offers similar space, similar protection and even a similar form: And yet it remains fragile, offering only limited security, no solid walls, no permanence. The materiality of the thin fabric skin creates a special space, an intermediate state between inside and outside. The translucent tent walls offer privacy, yet the light shines through and shadows emerge. Sounds penetrate but appear muffled. Zandra Harms evokes these characteristics of space in her series of pastel chalk tents. The bold colours on a black background stand out brightly, but are never opaque and create the effect of translucency that we feel in the tent room. The world appears through the tent wall like a shadow play that merely conveys an idea of reality.’
