Aperture is pleased to offer a very special limited-edition print and book box set, featuring three unique components created as part of Meyerowitz's most recent project-a compelling body of work resulting from a commission he received from the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation to document the city's parks. Each custom-designed clamshell box contains a copy of the book Legacy: The Preservation of Wilderness in New York City Parks with a special-edition bellyband, as well as "The Hallett," a limited-edition book featuring one of the artist's favorite spots-the Hallett Nature Sanctuary in Manhattan. "The Hallett" was designed and printed exclusively for this edition using an HP Indigo Digital Press. Also included is a 10 x 12 inch HP archival pigment print, made personally by the artist. Each book and print is signed and numbered by Meyerowitz.

In this stunning collection of images, master photographer Joel Meyerowitz (*1938) invites us to discover the hidden pockets of wilderness that still exist within the urban environs of New York City.

Meyerowitz honed in on the 8,700 acres within the five boroughs of New York City that still exist in their pristine state, as well as areas within various parks that have reverted to wilderness. In creating work, Meyerowitz has drawn on childhood memories of a New York "green-space—open and wild, alive with rabbits, migratory birds, snakes, frogs,and the occasional skunk—[that] gave me my first sense of natural world, its temperament and its seasons, its unpredictability, and its mystery."

Presented in a custom-designed clamshell box, the limited-edition set contains a copy of Legacy, with a specially designed and produced bellyband; The Hallett, an exclusive limited-edition book exploring the Hallett Nature Sanctuary in Central Park, found only in this set with images not featured in Legacy and printed using HP Indigo digital press; and an archival pigment-ink print made personally by the artist.
